Best Laid Plans

Yes, the ominous title says it all. My publishing plans for 2019 have been put on hold. In the last 2 to 3 months I’ve been struggling to bring a flare up of my Lupus under control. This mainly consisted of migraines on a daily basis. Unfortunately I haven’t quite succeeded.  Together with my homeopath I’ve more or less managed to get the migraines under control. Visits to the doctor have been endless. Not to mention all the blood tests I’ve had to endure - my favourite thing.

I’ve tried to keep my writing and other plans going as per usual but after 5 hours in A&E one evening earlier this month I’ve finally had to admit I need some time away from the laptop. I will still be working on my writing projects but at a much slower pace than usual. This does however mean that the promised release of several books will probably only happen towards the middle of 2020 and beyond.

I apologise for this as I know several people were keen to read The Witch Adoption Project (the follow up to The Lonely Dragon). I promise to make this my priority for 2020 and as soon as I’m able I will get it published and out to you. Others were anxious to read the memoirs of Kastaspella’s cat and that is very near completion. If my health improves before Christmas I will try to get it out then.  However I imagine it’s more likely to be early in 2020 as I’m hoping to add images too and those take time.

I truly value your support and am grateful for all the messages of concern I’ve received via social media and email. Please continue to bear with me until my health stabilises and I get my writing engine installed back into my creaky chassis.

Sun Worship

My second novel – Sharp Dark Things (desperately needing 3rd edit and hoping to be published on contains a description of my character sunbathing her eyelids in the early morning sun.

And because I know you're wondering why:

It's her moment of epiphany.

In the spirit of living with my characters I thought it only right to emulate her actions – feel what she felt, hear what she heard... blah di blah blah.

I stood there, eyes shut, head tilted to meet the day and promptly sneezed humungously.  I recall this happening to me as a child.  It appears I'm still afflicted.

Why does this happen?  I pondered

So I Googled it.

a) the laptop is in the next room
b) it can be accessed even with one hand still wrapped around a cup of tea and
c) I think a trip to the library for this sort of diversionary tactic is a little excessive

And discovered an actual syndrome called Photic Sneeze Reflex.  18 - 35% of humans suffer from it, including me.

At this point I'm try…
